Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 13, 2026
A+ Students ("A+ Students," "we," "us," or "our") provides after-school tutoring and educational services for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12, through our website at aplustudents.com and our A+ Students mobile apps (together, the "Services"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, how we protect children's information, and the choices you have. We are a Canadian company and handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law (including PIPEDA) and other laws that apply to you.
Because our Services are used by families, most accounts are created and managed by a parent or legal guardian, who provides information about themselves and their child and consents to this policy on the child's behalf.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Parent/guardian account details: name, email address, phone number, mailing/city address, and login credentials.
- Student profile details: the student's first name, grade level, and (optionally) date of birth, gender, and a profile avatar or nickname you choose.
- Enrollment and billing: your tutoring plan/contract and payment details. Card payments are processed by our third-party payment processor; we do not store full card numbers on our own systems.
- Enquiries and lead forms: information you submit through our website forms or advertising lead forms (e.g., a request for a free assessment), and any messages you send us.
Information created through use of the Services
- Learning activity: lessons viewed, tests and quizzes taken, scores and progress, points/rewards earned, and similar educational activity used to track progress and personalize learning.
- Device and technical data: app version, device type/operating system, IP address, and a push-notification token (if you enable notifications).
- Usage and diagnostics: aggregated usage/analytics about how the Services are used, and (where enabled) crash and error diagnostics to keep the apps stable.
2. How we use information
- Provide, operate, and personalize the tutoring Services and track student progress.
- Create and manage parent and student accounts and deliver purchased programs.
- Process payments and manage enrollments and contracts.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about the Service, progress reports, scheduling, and support (by email, SMS, or push notification, consistent with your preferences).
- Keep the Services safe and working โ including preventing cheating/abuse, debugging, and improving features.
- Market our own Services to parents/prospective parents, and measure the effectiveness of our advertising (see Section 3).
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
3. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We share information only as described here:
| Who | Why |
|---|---|
| Service providers (payment processing, email/SMS delivery and CRM, cloud hosting, app build/update infrastructure, error/crash diagnostics) | To run the Services on our behalf, under agreements that limit their use of the information to providing services to us. |
| Advertising and analytics partners (e.g., Meta/Facebook, Google) | To measure and optimize our own advertising to parents/prospective parents. Where we share contact information for ad measurement or audience matching, it is hashed. This relates to marketing directed at adults, not to children's in-app activity. |
| Professional advisers and authorities | When required by law, to protect our rights or users' safety, or in connection with a business transfer. |
We do not use children's personal information for third-party advertising, and we do not permit our service providers to use it for their own purposes.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies (including a Meta pixel and analytics) to run the site, remember preferences, and measure advertising to adults. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Our mobile apps use local device storage to keep you signed in and to save learning progress; they do not use advertising cookies.
5. Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the Services and for legitimate business or legal purposes (such as billing records). When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it. You can ask us to delete a student profile or account at any time (see below).
6. Your rights and choices
- Access and correction: parents/guardians can view and update account and student details in the app or by contacting us.
- Deletion: you can request deletion of a student profile or your account โ in the app's account settings or by emailing us. Deleting an account removes access and schedules associated personal data for deletion, subject to records we must keep by law.
- Communications: you can opt out of marketing emails/SMS at any time (via the unsubscribe link, by replying STOP to SMS, or by contacting us). We may still send essential service messages.
- Push notifications: you can turn these off in your device settings.
To exercise any right, contact us using the details below. We will respond as required by applicable law.
7. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information โ including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and secure storage of credentials. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and to promptly address any issues.
8. International handling
We are based in Canada and process information here and with service providers that may operate in other countries. Where information is handled outside your province or country, we take steps intended to ensure it remains protected consistent with this policy and applicable law.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify parents/guardians. Continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised policy.
